The 1990’s fashion has definitely found its way into our closets, from the cute fanny packs we all love to the popular mom jeans. As I was doing my research on vintage apparel, I came across the retro style which most people do mistake for vintage and I felt the urge to clarify .
Retro outfits are mimic past styles be it texture, material,it doesn’t refer to any particular period in the past. There’s a common myth that vintage fashion is shabby second hand clothes, cheap and even juvenile but that’s not really the case.
Clothes in the past era were mainly meant for utility and were loose fitting but you can hack your way through using the following tips~♥~
- Know your aesthetic, get to know the common element in your wardrobe and figure out what works for you.
- Incorporate trends for that cute juxtaposition of style, look at it through a wider perspective other than just basic vintage.
- The tailor should be your right hand friend 😂,get the clothes adjusted to suit you whether it’s the shoulder pads or the hemlines.
Here are some of the common vintage outfits ::
I don’t think I even have to talk about this trend. We’ve been seeing it everywhere from the runways to our daily wear. It’s definitely versatile and comes in handy for the ones who ain’t comfy with skinnies.
Satin and silk slip dresses are a huge comeback. For relaxed aesthetic wear, you can layer a white tee ,it’s effortlessly stylish plus a perfect wear for those who don’t prefer too much skin. Check out my channel for more styling tips
3.Fanny packs/belt bags.
The fanny packs are a great way to spice up a simple outfit. You can tie it across your body(cool kid’s style) or just place it on your waist for a cute street style look, plus it also cinches the waist ,so it’s a win-win situation 😂😊
I think the plaid pattern add that extra oomph and vibe to an outfit. You can dress it either up or down depending on your personal preference.
