Wanna look expensive and polished without breaking the bank ? Well,you clicked on the right blog post.Today i’ll be sharing some of the tips and tricks to make you achieve the ‘million bucks’ look.Let’s get into it :
1.Opt for neutrals/monochrome.
I hate to say this,but if you want to achieve the polished look,stay way from prints.Yes yes i know some prints give off the classy feel but that’s just the way it is.Opt for neutral pieces and if possible develop a neutral colour scheme in your wardrobe.I have a whole blog post dedicated to monochrome .You can check it out here.
2.Structured bags
Sructured bags always have an elegant feel to it.Next time you go shopping for bags,please ditch the big shapeless bags and go for a well structured bag.Invest in classic structured bags,you are pretty assured of much wear and ladies,a structured bag always elevates a look,always.
3.Invest in accesories and outerwear pieces.
Invest in outerwear ; Wanna elevate a simple jeans and tee outfit?Throw on a classic blazer and you’re the next fashion blogger(laughs). I hope you get the logic though,there’s no need of spending 5,000 on a colourful dress you’ll wear once,take a instagram photo,then completely forget about it.Instead,throw all your cash on classic timeless coats,blazers,jackets.Never go out of style,trust me.The same applies to accesories especially sunglasses.Accesories make or break an outfit so you better place all of your coins on it.
4.Pointed toe shoes.
There’s this magic about pointed toe shoes,they give off a classy feel.(speaking from experience).How about you get a pair of pointed toe shoes and feel the difference.An extra tip :If you ain’t sure about a shoe colour,go for nude.Why?Nude matches with literally anything.nude looks expensive and nude is an timeless and classic colour.
5.Always check the material of the garment.
This mainly applies to my fellow thrifters,when purchasing a garment,always check its material.Some materials give off a polished look,example,satin and silk.Anything satin looks and will forever look expensive.Thta’s a hack to always keep in mind when shopping.Also keep off materials that tend to crease easily.
6.Tri-colour rule.
Stick to three colours in your outfit unless maybe you’re going for the artsy look,but if your aim is to look polished and classy,stick to a maximum of three colours .This tip saves me alot of time in the morning,(morning outfit rush).Oh and something else,if capable,highly advisable to match the colour of your handbag to your shoes,doesn’t have to be the exact same colour,but at least a bit of colour coordination should be visible
7.Drape over your shoulders.
This may not be practical in most situations but draping a jacket,blazer or a coat over your shoulders always give off a rich feel.Instead of placing it on your waist like a little child,drape it over your shoulders. psssst :My instagram peeps make use of this.
8.Dark over light denim
Quite controversial right? Sorry sis,the light washed denim just ain’t it.Here’s a little exercise you can try :Take two different photos of yourself,one in light denim,the other in dark denim .Sideline them together and spot the difference. Remember you don’t have to ditch your light denim if you don’t want to,but just have this tip in mind.
9.The tailor is your bestfriend.
Have a certain garment that doesn’t fit perfectly well? Take it to your trusted tailor.Clothes that fit you perfectly will always look expensive on you,regardless.Getting the perfect fit is everything.
10.CONFIDENCE
The only reason a woman should look down is to show off her eyeshadow,ladies always keep ya head up,no matter what.All the tips above minus confidence =NOTHING. ‘Self confidence is a super power.Once you start to believe in yourself,magic starts happening.’
